Your Ultimate Guide to Parisian Neighbourhoods, Museums and Restaurants

Which one of us doesn't admire the Iron Lady, Louvre collection and of course all the cafes, and boutiques on the Champs-Élysées... Right? However, there is a whole world outside of popular tourist destinations. In this blog I want to introduce you to Le Marais or should I say the former royal neighbourhood of Paris?

I promise you'll have a remarkable trip if you include even a couple of these unusual things to do in Paris on your agenda.

Bonjour Paris!

Le Marais

Discover the secrets behind Paris’s former royal neighbourhood.

Le Marais, a trendy area of Paris that was formerly the city's Jewish neighbourhood, is tucked away in the 3rd and 4th arrondissements. Le Marais is the area to go to if you want to mingle with the locals. It has a wealth of attractions to discover, including quaint buildings, Jewish monuments, patisseries, peculiar bars, street art, and unique shops. The easiest way to discover Le Marais' hidden gems is to explore the neighbourhood on foot.

There are numerous museums in Paris that are free to visit. You can generally simply visit the permanent collection for free. If you wish to see the temporary exhibits, you need to purchase a ticket.

In Marais, I particularly like the following museums:

After all, I'm sure you're peckish right? Well, you are in a good spot!

Hungry? Places to taste the deliciousness of all kinds

  • Breizh: For the destination-worthy crepe experience, go to Breizh alone. You will taste a true Breton-style galette, a savoury crepe made with buckwheat flour and Bordier butter.

  • Carette opened in 1927 on the Place du Trocadéro, and it’s as picturesque as ever and still bustling. A newer location arrived a few years ago on the Place des Vosges, Paris’s oldest square.

  • Pozzetto, run by a Sicilian family, is a detour-worthy, one of the best places to have ice cream in Paris.

  • Bältis if you want to enjoy an artisanal store-laboratory this is the place to go. Two cousins born in Lebanon, are serving Levantine ice creams and sorbets made with organic and thoroughly selected and homemade natural stabilized ingredients.

  • Little Café, is a delightful restaurant offering a varied selection of meals. A great little place to know, perfectly placed near all the trendy bars where you can party on afterwards.

From art and culture to a wonderful shopping experience in Paris, Le Marais is your go-to destination. If you want to indulge in retail therapy you will find many innovative concept stores and vintage stores... For people watching on the other hand relax at the traditional venue, Place des Vosges. Everything about Marais is so special so just enjoy it.

Stay tuned for more cities and neighborhoods :)
